It's initially aged in American white oak bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period in Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at 40% ABV. Light golden, yellow in colour, the nose is light clean and fresh, with a hint sea salt, almonds, and spice notes.

With water it was much smoother, very chocolatey, hints of coffee and black pepper again after a while. Part of the new core range of whiskies launched by Isle of Jura in early 2018, this 10 year old expression takes the place of Jura Origin. The barley is first steeped in tanks of water for 2 to 3 days before being spread out on the floors of the malting house to germinate. Inspired by our history and our island home, our whiskies reflect the unwavering passion and tenacity of the islanders, so it tastes distinctively better because it matters more to those who make it. The first sip has the lips tingle then the unmistakable feeling on the tongue of many miniature violinists playing the most amazing symphony on your senses, soon after the flavours kick in like a warm hug from a chocolate covered panda bear.If you’re creating an infinity bottle with your whiskies I would say this is a good option to bulk it out a bit given the relatively neutral and smooth flavour. Eventually, all of the selected whiskies are brought together, pumped into vats, and then back into casks where they will rest for a further period of up to six to eight months. The art of blending is to produce a blended Scotch whisky, which is different from others, a little more subtle, a little more complex than the individual whiskies which have gone into the blend. Crafted in exceptionally tall stills, matured for 10 years in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels and fresh sea air with a further enhancement from the finest aged Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. Located on a remote island just off the West Coast of Scotland, Jura is an ancient landscape filled with wild mountains, peaceful lochs and stormy seas.

In practice, most Scotch whisky matures for much longer – from five to fifteen, twenty, or twenty-five years and sometimes longer. Using pure water from the Island's tallest mountains, the Paps of Jura, which has filtered down to Market Loch below along with some of the tallest stills of any island distillery produces a whisky that tastes rich and rounded, sweet with a hint of subtle smokiness. This is known as the “marriage” – the period during which each component whisky harmonises with the others. The Isle of Jura distillery is located so close to the island of Islay that they often participate in the annual 'Feis Ile' whisky festival of the Islay distilleries.uk accepts no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products by manufacturers or other third parties. Bottled at 40% ABV, which results in an incredibly smooth drinking experience that offers an accessible, rewarding and engaging dram.

Once the bottle is open the nose becomes something that would awaken summer in springtime, the notes are just intoxicating, and ones thoughts soon drift to a place of richness and comfort. The sherry finish ebbs and flows, sometimes adding a richness to the fruit that adds some berry and cherry notes to the already clean apple or pear, each taking their turn in a delightful dance. To arrest germination, the malted barley is dried in a kiln, identifiable by the distinct pagoda-shaped chimneys, characteristic of every distillery. Citrus and brine enters on the palate, balanced with a hearty oakiness, which transitions nicely to a maritime finish with a pleasant sweetness. The skills of the still-man, required to judge the moment at which the Scotch malt and the Scotch grain spirit is ready to be collected, are crucial to the art of distilling. The highly complex task of creating a marriage of single malt and single grain whiskies to make a blended whisky, is the responsibility of the master blender. A blend is a careful and judicious combination of anything from fifteen to fifty single whiskies of varying ages, compiled to a highly secret formula.
