Every so often I have a moment of weakness re acquiring a digital camera and this was the top of my list; partly from all the good things you've said about it, but all those menus just bring "the barren years" back to me! Definitely useful for focusing on the kids, but sometimes it detects faces in things that aren’t faces, so it’s useful to be able to turn it off quickly. The batteries perform as well as OEM batteries, but these two batteries and a high-quality charger are significantly cheaper than a single OEM battery.

The timer is essential for lots that I do as camera shake and therefore tripod shake is a problem at that extreme.
