I was tempted to use one of those explanations I had heard in church growing up: God is like an egg, God is like the three forms of water, God is like a flower… but I knew that all those fell flat because, in one way or another, they all promoted a trinitarian heresy. Explaining the Trinity with an egg is a great way of helping our children understand how ONE thing can also be THREE distinct things! She has a BA in English from the University of Texas, a Masters in Christian Education from Dallas Seminary and a D Min in Spiritual Formation from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

But from my perspective, I see their child twice a week for a couple hours in a group, while the parent has a unique connection with their child, in that they see them everyday and inhabit a special place of authority and respect, even if it is not visible. My desire in writing is to teach women to turn to God’s Word in the midst of their daily life and suffering to find the answers they need. Echoing the first sentence of the Bible, “In the beginning God,” John surprises us from the start: “In the beginning was the Word. This also shows how each state of water can be different yet is actually made of the same thing (H₂0).

God by nature is perfect life, love, eternity, power, wisdom, and all of the attributes or “perfections” of God. All things are “from” and “to” the Father (sovereign authority, will), “through” the Son (mediator, inheritance), and “by” the Spirit (empowering presence, means). Heavenly Father, increase our faith in the Real Presence of Your Son, Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.So to parents, I hope this is both an encouragement and a challenge: while it may feel like your child does not listen or care about what you say or do, your actions really do leave a lasting impression.
