Description

Interestingly, only 1 markerlight token is removed from an operative at the start of each turning point, rewarding you for placing multiple ones on a single operative. By swapping their autoguns for Novitiate melee weapons, they can swing three times when charging, with a crucial extra point of Strength to put the hurt on the likes of Drukhari raiders, smaller Tyranid bioforms, and other light targets. The included kill teams are nice as well and it’s interesting if this format of 1 brand new kill team and 1 updated old kit will be the norm going forward. If you want to really start some fires, Inferno Rounds upgrade an autogun or autopistol and give it the Inferno 1 critical hit rule. Even your basic operatives are pretty good with their melee profile, having damage and accuracy that matches other elite combat specialists from general kill teams.

We’re sure they will eventually come out with rules for 40k for the Novitiates, but if not, you can always just sprinkle them into your squads.

To wrap up the book we’ve got stylised dataslates for the T’au and Adepta Sororitas that can be scanned and printed, along with individual datacards for your operatives. After any battle in which you fielded a Pronatus, you roll a D6 to see if they recovered any relics. I don’t know if it was me, but I could not get the various side panels on the larger structures to go together. The T’au Empire and Adepta Sororitas clash in a series of violent running battles in the Vedik System with this new expansion for Kill Team – which comes complete with two full teams and a bunch of Imperial ruins to fight over. With action packed new scenarios, campaign rules, equipment and battlefields this game expansion has plenty to add to your games of Kill Team, PLUS you'll find exciting Kill Team Rules for the T'au Empire's dedicated pathfinder teams and the zealous Novitates initiates for the Adepta Sororitas faction.

If you’re content with the two factions in Chalnath and just want to get playing, as I mentioned above GW do a couple of bundles to get you started, but once again they aren’t cheap. What better excuse is there to finally paint all the boxes of scenery you’ve got sitting around untouched? In addition to Spec Ops rules for each team, Chalnath also gives us rules for a Spec Ops campaign similar to Octarius, with new missions, Killzone/terrain rules, and rules for each of the two teams involved.

Of course, the majority of the book is dedicated to actually getting you pushing figures across a board and slinging dice over a table top, but everything is broken down into a comprehensive and well-structured format. The scenery is impressive, even if it is the standard 40K affair of wrecked buildings and tumbledown walls, and will no doubt be featured in promo photos for other Warhammer 40,000 releases for years to come. Win the mission as the Defender and if you’re undergoing the Recover Archaeotech or Extraction Spec Ops and you can reduce the number of games needed to complete the Spec Op by 1. The scenery can be built however you want it to be, but the missions within this book really wants you to build them as seen on the box art.Just having that pop of colour beneath the bases of your figures can make all the difference when playing a game. These are Adepta Sororitas in-training, who must prove themselves in battle to earn the right to wear power armour and wield a bolter. The new box will have a bunch of those cool Imperial ruins for terrain, brand new Sisters models, and unfortunately, only an upgrade sprue for the Tau. However as we saw with Dominion, and the Black Templar Army box, interest in these paywall-type releases may be waning as hobbyists continue to vote with their hobby dollars about what’s important to them.
