Mix water and your preferred tea into a medium-sized pot and place the heat on high. Bring this to a boil, remove the pot and let the tea cool until it reaches room temperature. Brown sugar syrup is usually used for lychee boba, though you can use brown or white sugar. We’re going to use white granulated sugar here as it’s a little more accessible, and it keeps the flavours pleasantly simple. Boba tea can come in a variety of flavor combinations. Different fruits, syrups, and other add-ons can be mixed into boba tea, including fruit jellies, pudding, ice, and chunks of fruit. This drink is typically served cold with a wide straw to allow you to drink the boba along with the tea. Nutrition Information Because of the popularity of boba tea, many new categories of products were created to enrich the boba experience. For example, the typical straws used in every-day life are too thin to allow the boba to pass.Allow the brewed tea (for fruit tea kits) to cool a little before you add the flavour sachet into it. This will allow the drink to have a lower temperature before you add the 200ml of cold water and ice (and help prevent dilution) Green tea or green tea powders like matcha including jasmine green tea, is another favoured base for Boba tea. Bubble tea is typically served with wide straws, which allow you to enjoy the chewy tapioca pearls along with the tea. You can find wide straws at most grocery stores or online. If you don’t have wide straws, a regular straw will do, but you may not be able to enjoy the pearls as much. Putting It All Together Unfortunately, there are not Taiwanese bakeries in all parts of the world, but there are scones in most places, or at least most bakeries. These are a great alternative if you can’t find a traditional Taiwanese dessert to go along with your tapioca pearl drink. Croissants
