The FinePix XP130 combines its 5x optical zoom with Intelligent Digital Zoom which results in double the zoom range(10x) whilst offering optimum image processing to counteract the degradation that has traditionally occurred when digital zooms are used. Underwater, you’ll need to stay in that top ten feet of water and be sure to use it when the sun is giving off the most light. If you’d prefer a waterproof camera for recording quality video, we highly recommend the GoPro Hero Black 12. That said, some models do offer a modest zoom range, such as the 4x zoom on the OM System Tough TG-7, which gives you additional flexibility to select sub-aquatic subjects.

Low light remains an issue for the Hero 12 Black, with our review noting that grain is evident in dimly lit scenes. This summer I upgraded to the FUJIFILM XP140 and the main feature to me that I am loving is the ability to bluetooth sync the photos from the camera to my phone via an app!It does have built-in stabilization to help smooth out jittery footage, but it’s not especially effective–at least, not as effective as we’ve become used to with modern smartphones that do a much better job of it.
