As easy as it would be to dismiss Anderton-Davies as someone living a rarefied existence, particularly in a cost of living crisis, she says she’s proven that you can have a formidable career while pursuing other passions successfully, and most importantly, not burning out.

Yet, it is also a region of opportunity and empowerment where Pacific countries want to stand on their own two feet as equals, make their own choices, and have their distinctive voices heard on the global stage.

members of the child health workforce in Wales signed an open letter to their First Minister, Mark Drakeford. The broad idea is that you have a dashboard aligned to your values, and on that are your dials, be they work, hobbies, family, socialising. The levels on your dials are then turned up and down according to what’s happening in your life. These dials can change in intensity at different times in your life, reflecting that life shifts, for instance, your children don’t need you as much as they grow older, you may take on caring responsibilities for older relatives, you have to focus on work to get a promotion and so forth. The levels change as your life evolves and the levels allow you to be more deliberate and intentional about this. That means you can make trade offs. Perhaps you need to work longer hours to get to the next level at work at one point, but at another something challenging happens in your family that requires you to be less focused on your work. Perhaps there are times when you need to be more focused on your career and your partner can dial their work intensity down. Shifting the Dials is a fresh new approach to all things work, careers, passions and money by Rebecca Anderton-Davies, one of the youngest female MDs in Investment Banking, mother, yogi and prolific side-hustler.The book grew out of a series of sold-out workshops I taught to enable people to practice yoga all by themselves. I share my own unique method of flowing creatively without a teacher, creating entire practice of any length with zero planning, and how to stay at and develop your practice over the long term. Because having a yoga practice which consistently fits into my very busy life is what truly changed it. While the size of New Zealand’s official development assistance programme is under reconsideration, we speak and prepare for the budget this year we intend to shift the dial to move our Pacific relationships past the donor/recipient interaction and into genuine, mature political partnerships;
