About this deal

Using shelf liner cushion to modify your hook handles is simply a matter of cutting pieces the size you want, rolling them up snugly around the hook, and securing with either the rubber bands or elastic. My main hand problem when I crochet is actually with my non-crocheting hand; the hand that holds the work in place rigidly grips the work without moving for long periods of time, and that is the main cause of my (crochet-related) pain. If you wish, you can mark the size of the hook on the outside of the cushion with the permanent marker. Thank you for posting pictures of the hooks in an actual grip – exactly the kind of review I was looking for. To employ this technique, place the crochet hook between your thumb and index finger, and simply grip the hook like a pencil.

However, I can’t find what I did with it and have done a couple of projects without it, including longer stretches of crochet than I have done in a while (Christmas is coming, ya know? This requires a lot more left handed movement, but there are several ways to feed the thread if my index finger gets sore. I don’t think these are the worst looking ergonomic crochet hooks by a long shot (the earwax coloured Clover Soft Touches are pretty hard on the eye) but there’s something very medical about the way they look. The wooden, brightly coloured hook on the right is an example of an inline style (the head is the same width as the shaft) and the yellow handled metal one on the left is the tapered style (the lip sticks out beyond the shaft). Please note that I can only answer questions related to PlanetJune patterns and tutorials ( see details), and I can only respond to questions or comments written in English. It’s like exercise – if you run 5km every day your body eventually gets used to it and you need to change your exercise routine to incorporate something different.

In some cases, you may find that one grip is more comfortable but produces a less attractive or appealing result. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).My English hooks are slightly more pointy at the point and have a slightly sharper lip…looks to be inline style, but it’s hard to tell with the teensy tiny hooks. I have very small hands but my first generic set of cheap hooks had an unusually long shaft so now I find that, though my clovers and tulips slide like butter and the handle is very comfortable in my small grips, it doesn’t feel right, the shaft is too short for my motions. When you slide your hook into the stitches, you need to make sure the yarn slides up to the shaft to achieve an even tension.

I need to purchase ergonomic crochet hooks and have decided the Clover brand would best suit my needs. Etsy’s 100% renewable electricity commitment includes the electricity used by the data centres that host Etsy. You bring uniqueness to hook choice, so something else to consider is the hook to hand size comparison.

In consequence it took at least twice as long as usual to complete a stitch, trying not to snag the yarn as I drew the hook up through each loop, and my tension was much tighter than normal. Each grip affects tension and control differently and the choice depends on your personal comfort and preference. The small finger and thumb of the non-dominant hand secure the crochet work, making it easier to manipulate stitches. I’m showing you more than one example because I think it’s helpful to recognise the variation within the categories. So whilst I suggest trying different things, or substituting different hook styles willy nilly, I appreciate this may not be feasible for all. I would show them the “up down” motion similar to knitting, while you twist the hook from 9 to 6 o’clock to get the loop.
