This multi-layered expansion adds a whole host of new additions including Fire Hawks, Seasonal Cards and a 3D Fire Centrepiece for the board. You might play fire engine only for your opponent to play flare up and cancel it out, but the wind still pushed the fire toward you anyway. PLAYERS: The expansion adds a solo and fifth player mode, as well as multiple variants for different player counts. The Wind Dice is rolled and each empty space orthogonally adjacent to an existing fire gem in the new wind direction is then filled with another gem. The nearest comparisons I have to it, is that it is a mix of Chess and Othello, but rather than have your own pieces you have a communal set and can utilise special moves with the right cards. To start with, you get a large and sturdy board depicting the four different towers, forest, and the eternal flame in the center. In a 4 player game, the Shadow of The Woods card allows a defeated player to exact some revenge and still engage with the game a little bit, which is nice. You must effectively direct the resources in your hand and use sound spatial planning to deploy them.
