About this deal

While exhibiting superb clarity and distinction in the upper frequencies, imaging continuously feels broad and spacious with lots of background activity convincingly moving across the three fronts and into the top heights to create a highly-engaging half-dome soundstage. While that all sounds very deep, the film takes a simple path toward striking its chords, relying on a group of easily definable people, each with characteristics that associate them within the story’s framework. Now, having said all of that, Everything Everywhere All at Once is chaotic and most assuredly takes the road less traveled which could prove frustrating. So our US cousins have to import those (such as the Arrow's Robocop or Robin Hood or Second Sight's Drive).

It is comedy, drama, kung fu action, sci-fi, horror in an insane, absurd and heartfelt package that should not work at all let alone amazingly. It would be far too simplistic to think that all of the award attention given to Everything Everywhere All at Once is due to how much heart that the film demonstrates, because as anyone who actually watches genre efforts with an open mind can attest, that’s hardly a unique quality. Color reproduction is consistent, with primaries like blue and red appearing richer, and more delineated.

When overwhelmed with more than we are really equipped to deal with, we are prone to ignore and neglect the more important aspects of our lives, overcome by anxiety to solve everything all at once, leading to a fractured sense of self and desiring to somewhere else, to be someone else. The absurdist fantasy drama verse-jumps to home theaters with an absurdly fantastic Dolby Atmos soundtrack that perfectly energizes and complements the wildly fanciful visuals.

In that respect, Everything Everywhere All at Once is indeed everything and everywhere, but it’s also for anybody—and all at once, to boot. The story about a mother struggling to find stability and contentment in her life weaves through some emotionally poignant issues with the same insightful fervor and care as it does stitching together multiple genres into a harmoniously balanced and memorable experience. Being a character-driven feature, every conversation and line of dialogue always takes top priority, coming in loud and clear even during the loudest, most outrageous segments.

This is one of many simple moments that speak volumes in a film that embraces the visually elaborate and intricately fanciful.Although the bonus material could be a bit meatier, the overall UHD package is nonetheless highly-recommended and belongs in every 4K library. It’s a mind-bending trip through the multiverse that mixes comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts, and family drama into a chaotic but still internally consistent whole. Everything Everywhere All at Once comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray from Lionsgate Home Entertainment featuring 2160pHEVC encoded video and lossless Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.

The whole thing started after Kwan watched a double feature of Fight Club and The Matrix, which got him thinking about the concept of the multiverse, but the project didn’t pick up momentum until they had the idea to use that as the backdrop for a family drama. The variety of reds and oranges in the final quarter of the movie, in particular, is impressive and perfectly reflects the tonal shift in the story. If the hot dog fingers multiverse was a bit strange for your tastes, wait until you see the one that didn’t make the final cut. All different studios which are UHD elsewhere but not in the UK and all new releases which seems a bit odd. Evelyn has been so preoccupied that she has been living completely blind to an unhappy marriage with the always upbeat and optimistic Waymond (Ke Huy Quan of The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom fame).
