Fine textures are abound everywhere from the skin on the monsters to the wooly fabric employed on Elba’s jacket. We'll look at this again in the future when there could be more interesting differences to point out in other types of productions.

Compared the sky just as the Alaskan build site scene starts and it's clearly missing detail but maybe I need more nits. By the time opening day came around, 'Pacific Rim' sat with a healthy Rotten Tomatoes rating in the low 70s – but that didn't matter. I see a little more artifact in the 1080P image, possibly due to bitrate differences or maybe the upsampling algorithm. Look at that image of Stacker Pentecost, note how the darker detail on his hair and neck is swallowed up by the crush, also looking more posterised and poorly gradated where the crush meets the mid-tones whereas the UHD rolls off the shadows in a FAR better way. There are also some deleted scenes, which are ok, but what I really enjoyed was the blooper reel included in the extras which shows behind the scenes mistakes and comedy moments with the actors during filming.As I said in my first reply to trekky76: the highlight detail IS all there on the UHD disc but the tone mapping in whatever TV can kill it. As usual with these there are a couple of genuinely funny moments amongst shots of people pulling funny faces. L.
