I’m always locking myself out as we have a slam shut front door so this comes in handy for everyone, not just visitors. We have found this to be the best way for moving forward, feeling secure that we have our own access codes, our guests don’t need to download the software which is complicated to use for some, and no temporary code will repeat itself. This 5441EC key safe is designed to be programmed on or offsite using blue tooth technology via smartphone, with back up access using a 4 digit numerical code on the lock keypad.

Designed for types of accommodation where the door lock is not to be modified, Key safe is easily installed hanging from the door knob or attached to the wall. In addition, the safe offers water protection according to IP65 resistance rating and has airtight weather protection. You really need to put together a short, simple guide on YouTube showing the guest exactly what they need to do. Giving people access via the app is still a bit of a faff for them as they have to download the app and register for an account - fine if they are tech savvy but not so good for elderly relatives or those that struggle with smartphones. It seems that once exposed, the screws can be easily undone, thus facilitating the easy opening of the unit's door :-( I haven't validated this but it is of some concern to me.

Once fixed in situ, you can either unlock the box by bluetooth if you’ve got the program downloaded and are very near the box, or if someone gave you any of the above numbers, you just key them in. The only two things you have to do is placing the key or card in the box, then set the password for yourself, family members or friends and you will never be locked out again. With an auto-lock function that secures the device 10 seconds after opening, there is no risk of accidentally leaving eSafe unlocked.
