At one point she makes it clear that she is not ready/willing to have a child with him yet and that she wants birth control and his response is to cuff her to his bed and forcefully inseminate her multiple times over a 24 hour period without letting her up for any reason. It was badly written, boring, shallow, full of romanticised blatant SEXISM, flat and unbelievably badly written characters, Greek-in-Philadelphia-for-some-reason?She’d understand that true ownership of her body would come when she surrendered it, not from a man who demanded it without ever earning that submission from her. Cálix as an adult is hard because he was a nice boy but the trauma he went through because of what his dad did changed him into something else. I loved that we got to see Thalia as a girl and Calix as a young man even if she was six when he left and she thought that he would never leave her. Her beauty in lies series was out of this world incredible and wanted a man like rafe with his absolute devotion he had for Isa and the lengths he went to make sure he had her completely tied to him was 🤒. He even tells her his eyes are grey even though they’re not so that she won’t feel like she’s missing out on anything. Mostly I felt incredibly sorry for Thalia she had so much trust in calix only for their dads to cruelly tarnish it.I really enjoyed watching them both grow up and into themselves, learning about Thalia’s upbringing and what brought them both together. His lips dropped to mine gently, coaxing me to open for him so he could take the goodnight kiss he wanted. For me personally this one hit all the balances between a dark mafia romance and a lot of suspense/world building for what would happen as we move forward. But once that was done with, the book became alot more of intense romance between the two protagonists, Thalia and Calix.
