About this deal

Just over 12 months earlier a small title known as Overwatch launched, changing esports and online multiplayer overnight.

Huge variety of weapons, interactive tracks, and unique skins, kill markers and victory animations to earn! ALL-NEW BATTLE MODES: Up to 12 players in huge arenas, multiple modes that proves that a single takedown is just as satisfying as winning a race! Despite the smaller amount of tracks, this is the mode that'll keep people coming back, although if you're anything like me and my friends you'll skip over Free For All, the watered down version of Battle mode and stick to the tug-of-war classic, Elimination mode. Playing World Series is like going to see your favourite band live and finding out most of their setlist is made up of new songs. History lesson complete, but it is important to know just how well received the series was in the ‘90s.They also complain about there being no local multiplayer race option and that the single player mode is a massive let down. Designed around fun gameplay at every turn, Micro Machines World Series is the ultimate pick up and play experience for players of all ages and abilities, offering intuitive, easy to learn controls that make the controller impossible to put down. So, it was anticipated that this new Micro Machines would have online multiplayer, but as long as that wasn’t at the cost of local multiplayer, then it should be okay, right?

Micro Machines World Series will retain the manic social game play of the classic series, but will bring a new dimension to the experience with stunning HD visuals - taking you to the much-loved household environments as they've never been seen before. Familiar weapons from Toybox, the Tommy Gun, the Hammer and the Mines are rebranded as Nerf products, while countless Nerf guns litter the tracks and arenas. Sign in to your Xbox 360 (make sure you’re signed in with the Microsoft account you want to redeem the code with).Maybe its an age thing, but the game seems to focus so heavily on the product placement (Nerf especially) that it loses gameplay elements, split screen is still good fun, especially with my brother, who can now beat me after 10 years of being player 2.

The online portion works well enough - quickmatch will attempt to put you in lobby with as many human players as possible, but will plug the gaps with AI characters if necessary so there's always a full match and you're never left waiting too long for a game. Each of the 12 vehicles has its own unique loadout of weapons and abilities and the game will launch with a massive range of customisation options. Being based on the children’s line of miniature vehicles, Micro Machines didn’t need to rely on traditional racing courses. While you progress through the game, you will be able to upgrade the afterburner meter and its charge speed, speed of flips, brakes and many more.

out of 10: "This could get fixed into a solid game, but players should be cautious until an overhaul occurs". CUSTOMISABLE VEHICLE CAST: An array of amazing miniature vehicles, each with its own unique load-out of weapons and abilities plus a massive range of customization options! While Turbos was a charming nostalgia trip, World Series often feels calculated and almost soulless. Game Description: Micro Machines World Series is combines the thrilling madness of racing micro vehicles with epic team battle strategies, set against the extraordinary interactive backdrops of the everyday home!

What Codemasters and developer Just Add Water probably anticipated to be a game that received a lot of support and content updates post-release fizzled out with the lukewarm reception to Micro Machines World Series. As a nice little treat for nostalgic gamers, the avatars for the AI racers are lifted straight from the original games and include memorable characters like Spider, Cherry and even Violet Berlin. There was a high emphasis on vehicular combat, and that came at a cost of the fun and simplicity that made the series so great. This was one of my all time favourite games as a younger gamer, hours spent with friends racing each others VW Bug Caravan around a pool table, to jump onto the kitchen table. Meanwhile, Team Play lets you work together using your vehicles' unique skills with modes such as 'King of the Hill' or 'Capture the Flag'!
