Seiko’s exclusive 7S26 calibre automatic movement powers this watch, it consists of 21 jewels and it offers an accuracy of -20/+40 seconds per day. This watch has a water resistance of 30 metres, meaning it should only be exposed to light splashes of water. You can expect to loose around 1 minute per month in accuracy, however, this is easily sorted when you adjust the date. The holes are reinforced with vinyl and the entire strap exudes a ruggedness that seems capable of handling whatever you throw at it. The canvas design is a perfect complement to the water resistance, rated at 30m. That’s 99ft for everyone holding on to the Imperial System; let go already. So yes, the Seiko 5 SNK809 is worth buying. It makes a good everyday wearer for someone who wants a mechanical watch but who doesn’t want to spend a lot. It’s a great size for people with smaller wrists or even for a young person trying out mechanical watches. And due to its low price, the SNK809 is a good beater watch or one to start off a budding collection.
