The machine can also grind consistently enough for pour over. However, the more coarse the grind, the less consistency you will find, which is in keeping with most grinders. There are also a greater number of fine particles than many other conical burr grinders. Hands-Free Grinding — Press your portafilter against the auto-start button, located directly under the grind chute.

I don’t think it’s a lot of work to grind manually for pour over, but it’s a lot more work for espresso because it’s harder to turn the crank at these super fine settings. The Specialita is the model I've used, and it comes with the larger 55mm burrs for faster grinding and the touch screen controls. It's made more for espresso, so it's bundled as standard with the portafilter forks. Brew Prois a lot like the Specialita, but is more geared toward filter coffee. It has 55mm burrs that are built for brew coffee. There’s a broader spectrum of flavors compared to the conical burrs, especially when it comes to aftertaste and the more fruity notes. The Specialita is the premium device of all the Eureka Mignon grinders. It also compares to the higher-end grinders of rival companies. The Niche Zero is a stonking grinder, read my Niche Zero review– but it's a completely different grinder to the Eureka Mignon, and it's not in the same price range, it's a couple of hundred quid more, depending on which Mignon model you're looking at.

One of the hottest topics in espresso recently has been single dosing and “zero” retention grinders. You should not need to disassemble your grinder any further, but possibly your chute gets very gummed up over time. It shouldn't be very bad, but if so, there is another Philips head screw right above the button you use to trigger the dose. At the top above the display there are (2) 3mm hex screws that will need to be removed as well. Specialitais a premium grinder and the main subject of this article. It has 55mm flat burrs and a touchscreen, as we detailed earlier. The Eureka Mignon Specialita Coffee Grinder is simply brilliant. It delivers a precision grind and looks beautiful in any kitchen. Final Verdict

By providing Authority to Leave you agree that the parcel is deemed to have been received when left at your premises. I've mentioned the Eureka Mignon coffee grinder in other recent posts including my best espresso machines post, but I've been meaning to write a dedicated post on the Eureka Mignon grinder for a while, so here goes. By the way, while I'm talking about purging coffee beans – do you purge some coffee each time you adjust your grind while dialing in? In case you've no idea what I'm going on about re retention, this is the ground coffee that remains each time you grind, which then ends up in your portafilter the next time you grind. This is really what you're looking for when grinding for espresso, nice fluffy grinds without clumping – and this is what I experienced with the Mignon Specialita, lovely fluffy clump free grounds.

In the online coffee communities, there have been many interesting single-doser mods around the Mignon. At home, you’re probably only pulling 1 or 2 shots in the morning, so it’s not the same thing as in a coffee shop where you go through a lot of coffee in a single day. I think when it comes to top-notch domestic espresso grinders (that are still affordable), at the moment, it’s mainly a discussion between the Sette, the Niche Zero, and the Specialita. flat burrs: "Diamond inside" 55mm burrs. Diamond Inside is Eureka's patented process of treating burrs at a temperature of -193 degrees C (patent pending). This results in the formation of an increased crystal structure that guarantees a superior wear resistance and life, making burr-replacement necessary only after around 1000 kg - 1300 kg ground - that's 72222 cups of coffee (based on an 18-gram dose). For a typical household that consumes 4 cups of coffee a day, the burrs can last 49 years! Historically, almost all of the espresso had huge hoppers. However, adding a bunch of beans to the hopper is kind of dated here in 2020.

Silent Technology: The Eureka exclusive anti-vibration solution reduces the grinding noise by approximately 20 dB compared to the conventional grinders and paves the way for a new way of grinding coffee: accurate and quiet. This is the All Chrome Specialita - the third of three versions that make up the new Mignon range. This is the premium model, with a chrome body and chrome front panel, complete with touch screen controls and a larger burr set.
