About this deal

Encourage open communication and let them express themselves without judgment. Letting them ask questions and talk to you openly will help them feel more secure and closer to you. Author Helen Monks Takhar explores the power and persistence surrounding the feelings of guilt, hopelessness and inferiority some mothers experience when forced to compromise. She has created a protagonist who is dominated by these negative emotions and then placed her in a setting where they are amplified and she is forced to act on them and against her powerful adversaries. Crummy Mummy– Saying sorry when you’re in the wrong. I think that’s really important – after all, we’re all human… Enthralling, chilling, compulsive... keeps the reader gripped from start to finish, an absolute must-read for fans of thrillers'

As is Amala. She is a perfect example of the saying ‘if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.’ I found it hard to trust her from the get go. Rose and Amala’s relationship and their dynamics with the other female characters was fascinating to read as the story progressed. The Circle rules the school and is led by the picture perfect Amala Kaur. These mothers participate in fundraising and hyping up the image of the school. In exchange their kids get special privileges, the moms get high paying business opportunities and are the envy of the town. In my opinion, this book was very well written. It had the feel of a grown up Mean Girls with Amala as the Queen Bee.Many have really liked this book; I am an outlier. It was well written with twists and turns but it just wasn’t for me. I really had to force myself to stay with the book as I found it tedious. I couldn’t get invested in the story; most of the characters were unlikable and I just didn’t care what happened to any of them. Incidentally, I the saw genre of this book as more of a horror story than a mystery. Mummy Cat Notes– One quality I feel that is important is trusting and believing your children, they need to know that while you can be tough; you have their side with everything, my son recently dealt with a bully at school (who pointed the blame at my son and his friend) and it took awhile for him to actually open up and tell me and I made it clear to him that he can trust me and that I was there for him and more importantly that I understand.

Rose is about to find out that darkness lies at the heart of The Circle. And it's far too late to run... Precious You’ now re named ‘That Woman’ was one of my fav books of 2020 so was with great excitement and also trepidation I started this book, I say trepidation as there has been lots of mixed commentary already on this book… And Another 10 Things– Being able to say sorry to them when you’ve done something wrong. It’s important to show them that no one is above making mistakes or apologising for them. Active Listening: This involves givingundivided attentionto your child, ensuring they feel heard and understood. It’s a tool to build trust and foster open communication. Pink Pear Bear– Good cuddling skills. Cuddles are free and can be doled out anywhere. Taking the time to sit and watch TV with the kids and just cuddle them is a wonderful thing.I pretty much devoured this novel, reading it in one sitting. You are immediately thrown into the action and mystery surrounding The Woolf School and the women running it.

I hate saying this but I was pretty frustrated while reading Such a Good Mother. Given there were elements to the story and characters I normally like, it was disappointing everything fell flat. After reading the Author's Note at the end I feel like I better understand what she was going for but unfortunately the book didn't work for me. And that's perfectly fine as not every book is a perfect fit for every reader. And when she receives an unexpected invitation into The Circle, an elite clique of beautiful, wealthy and connected mums at her son's exclusive school, it seems her dreams are about to come true. Every mother would kill for an invitation, and once she joins, Rose's social status soars. It's every mother's dream to get their kid into an elite school, I think. We all want the best for our kids and to give them every advantage available to us. But when does enough become too much? How much success can we push our kids towards? So this is basically Mean Girls (on steroids) for mum’s. I disliked every single character minus poor old Jacq’s. They were all selfish, shallow, weak characters who only thought about themselves in the long run. Helen Monks Takhar worked as a journalist, copywriter and magazine editor having graduated from Cambridge in 1997.

Rose has a beautiful child, a gorgeous husband, a wonderful sister-in-law … but a mundane job, a hole in her heart where friends should be, and a bank account constantly on the verge of collapse. Living in a shabby apartment, unable to get a job she deserves because she shares her father’s name, Rose is a woman wondering how she can make life better for her son.Such a Good Mother is an incredible psychological thriller which takes the reader along Rose’s ride of sadness for never being accepted, to Rose’s newfound strength as she fights for those she loves and will not stop until her family is whole again. With a satisfyingly twisty ending you don’t see coming! Encouraging Autonomy: This involves allowing children to make choices, fostering their independence, and supporting them to take responsibility for their actions. Born in Southport, Merseyside in 1976, she lives in North London with her husband and two daughters. When she’s invited into The Circle, an elite clique of beautiful, wealthy and influential school mums, it seems her dreams are about to come true.
