About this deal

Though they’ve known each other for years, they don’t reallyknoweach other—so Claire is unsettled when Delilah figures out exactly what buttons to push. Anna’s tired of being defined by her bubbly persona. She wants to be taken seriously as an artist, and a duet with Eden could be just what she needs.

If you also adore the grumpy sunshine trope Sophie seems to fit the bill, but I think her desperation to ignore her attraction to her boss is the best part of this novel. In an early scene, a group of college-age lesbian and queer friends crowd into a small Manhattan living room, screening the latest episode of The L Word. The friends shout over the show’s dialogue and comment on the characters’ questionable decisions. In that dark theater, I felt seen. Here, lesbians weren’t dressed in Victorian makeup and voluminous wigs, but rather in hoodies similar to the ones in my own closet, watching a show I watched. While internally shrieking with giddiness, I had a revelation. This is what I’d been missing. For 27 years, I hadn’t seen a single scene in a movie that even remotely captured my social life. This was it: like looking in a mirror, but heightened. And I wanted more. Colette, about the trailblazing writer Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, who engaged in relationships with men, women, and trans-masculine-identifying people circa the Belle Epoque, is queer to its core. In the film directed by Wash Westmoreland, who is gay, Keira Knightley embodies the pansexual bohemian feminist who stepped out of her husband's shadow to become the most famous female French author in the world. One student interrupts the tide with a question. “Why are we even making this list? I mean it’s completely speculation.”While The Watermelon Woman might not seem romantic at first, this film takes a unique turn on a love story. The film centers on Cheryl, a burgeoning filmmaker trying to identify the identity of a 1930s actress named The Watermelon Woman. Her documentary takes her on a journey of self-discovery, and unraveling the real love story at the heart of the film, that of The Watermelon Woman and her lover. There’s love in this film; you just have to pay attention to the details to find it. As a master of disguise, Thomasina Wynchester can be a polite young lady—or a bawdy old man. She’ll do whatever it takes to solve the cases her family takes on. Books are Rosie Taft’s life ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore. The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, though she’s hoping the flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie could turn into something more. She even ends up rooming with Mason’s sister Stevie, a vibrant former park ranger who is as charming as she is competitive. The more time Garland spends with Stevie, the more the signs confuse her. The stars are aligning in a way Garland never could have predicted.

When she meets twenty-eight-year-old A-list actress Valeria Sullivan around the office, Luna thinks she’s found her solution. She’ll use Valeria’s interest in her cinematography to get a PA job on the set of Valeria’s directorial debut—and if Valeria is as gay as Luna suspects, and she happens to be Luna’s route to losing her virginity, too . . . well, that’s just an added bonus. Enter her mother: armed with plenty of mom-guilt and a spreadsheet of Facebook-stalked Armenian men, she convinces Nar to attend Explore Armenia, a month-long series of events in the city. All they have to do is convince their friends and family they’re getting married in six weeks. If anyone guesses they’re not for real, they’re out. Will Eddie be forced to choose between her friendship with Rose and her literary dreams––or will she be able to write her own happily ever after?

Margot is starting to feel like the fifth wheel now that her friends are paired up with their special someones when she comes face to face with her childhood friend. Everyone around Iris Kelly is in love. She’s happy for all of them, only Iris doesn’t want any of that—dating, love, romance, for herself. Tansy Adams’ greatest love is her family’s bookstore, passed down from her late father. But when it comes to actual romance… Tansy can’t get past the first chapter.

More than half a century after Patricia Highsmith's groundbreaking 1952 novel The Price of Salt/Carol was released, Todd Haynes's big-screen adaptation Carol became revolutionary in its own way. The film, starring Cate Blanchett as the titular Carol, a soon-to-be-divorced New Jersey socialite and mother who falls for Rooney Mara's Therese, the shopgirl who is, as Carol notes, "flung out of space," earned six Oscar nominations, even if it was snubbed in the Best Picture category. Still, it was the first Oscar-worthy love story about a female couple in which a man does not steal focus and that doesn't end in disaster or death for the women. In fact, the novel and the film's hopeful ending offers a possible happily-ever-after for Carol and Therese.

‘The World to Come’

I had a lot of empathy toward her. She had a rich inner life and she didn't have a lot of outlets," Sevigny told The Advocate about Lizzie, who's depicted as being an avid reader and a patron of the arts.

It’s just this confusing thing that keeps happening. You know, from time to time. For basically their entire teenaged existence. Only, Erin doesn’t expect the fake romance with the charming Steph to feel so incredibly real. She also doesn’t predict their sizzling attraction will spiral out of control, with dizzying consequences for everyone. Is Steph Erin’s destiny, or will she be her downfall? Then, an opportunity: a new foodie TVshow might provide the exposure they need. An uneasy truce is fine for starters, but making their dreams come true means making some personal and painful sacrifices and soon, there’s more than just the restaurant at stake.

I’ve totally fallen for Bellefleur’s writing with her past lesbian romance books so I’m totally on board with this new release for 2023. Netflix’s The Prommight not be on par with the same kind of romance as the other films in this round-up, but it’s full of the sweetness of young love. Emma (Jo Ellen Pellman) just wants to take her girlfriend Alyssa (Ariana DeBose) to prom. But when the conservative PTA decide to cancel the dance all together, a troupe of Broadway stars descends on the town to make the dance happen, and give Emma and Alyssa the chance to let their love shine in front of everyone. Lesbian romance books are finally really breaking out in popularity and gaining a huge following and I for one am all for it. To help you find your next great read, I’ve got the best and most popular lesbian romance books in the genre and I cannot wait for you to read them. Nothing like enacting a bit of revenge on a former lover to bring about a happily ever after sapphic love story.
