Mundane Made Awesome: When the Maskman are rushing in their new Galaxy Robo to go retrieve the stolen Great Five, they notice that the Monster of the Week is on their tail. So they stop to fight him...and we find out that Power Glows even applies to using the brake pedal.

Takeo (Takeru), Sayaka (Haruka), Keiko (Momoko), and Liu (Ryu) in Brazilian Portuguese, though Kenta and Akira retained their characters' names in the dub.

Technicolor Death: Bleeds red energy like other Ground Beasts then melts into energy which forms into a face which float up in the sky and explodes four times. Masky Fighter ( マスキーファイター, Masukī Faitā): It is piloted by Red Mask. It is stored in the cabin of the Turbo Ranger. It forms the head and chest of the Great Five. It appears again in Gaoranger vs Super Sentai. Doctor Catherine ( ドクター・カトリーヌ, Dokutā Katorīnu, 3): A Caucasian woman who assists Commander Sugata alongside Doctor Azuma.

Masky Jet ( マスキージェット, Masukī Jetto): It is piloted by Yellow Mask. It is stored in the hood of the Turbo Ranger, to the left of the Masky Gyro. It forms the left arm of the Great Five and the Five Shield. Law of Chromatic Superiority: Gets his own buggy (Spin Cruiser) and has two powerful Finishing Moves he can use on his own, plus he is Jet Cannon's designated pilot. The Atoner: To atone for her crimes of serving Zeba, Igam in the end is Taking the Veil and wanders the labyrinth of Tube as the first step of atonement.Make My Monster Grow: In the finale he absorbs the energy of the Maskmen's Finishing Move to enlarge himself. It was aired in Thailand with a Thai dub from 1989-1990 on Channel 3, currently owned by TIGA Company.

In its home country of Japan, Toei Video released five DVD volumes from February 21, 2011 to June 21, 2011. This was the first home video release of the full series and each volume holds 2 discs and 10 episodes, with the fifth and final volume holding 11 episodes. Prior, Toei Video released the Hikari Sentai Maskman movie on VHS as well as on DVD as part of the "Super Sentai THE MOVIE BOX" set release on July 21, 2003, and it was later released on "Super Sentai The MOVIE VOL.3" on July 21, 2004. The movie was also given a Blu-Ray release on June 21, 2011 as part of the "Super Sentai THE MOVIE Blu-Ray BOX 1976-1995."

Glorious Leader: As the head of Tube's military dictatorship, his subordinates have constructed a Cult of Personality around him revering him as a great and wise leader. Eye Catch: The eyecatch before the break shows the Maskman team. The end of the commercial break features Great Five posing with its' sword and shield.

Tomboy and Girly Girl: Haruka and Momoko, though this one's more downplayed: They got the differences all right, but the fact that they're martial artists means that they're equally prone of jokes of 'Are these tomboys enjoying feminine things? You serious?' And they both don't take it well. And of course, Igam and Iyal. In both opening and ending themes in the Philippine dub of the series, it was composed by singer and composer Norman Caraan. Expy: Closer to the Shout-Out to the Robot Romance Trilogy, Takeru draws similarities with Kazuya Ryuuzaki the most, since he is the male Star-Crossed Lovers, runs on The Power of Love, and is a karateka. Heel–Face Turn: After much convincing from the Maskman and Ial and the reveal of Zeba's true intentions, she helps the Maskman unmask Zeba's ruse. Co-Dragons: Starts off on equal footing with Igam, though his failures eventually lead to him falling out of favor with Zeba.Even Evil Has Standards: Even he was against reviving Lethal Doggler, the beast which once terrorized the underground. Subverted later. Zeba wasn't worried about Lethal Doggler returning, he was worried about being caught.
