The realm of textile art expanded dramatically, as artists began to appreciate the versatility and tactile quality of fabric and fibers. Artists began using textiles to challenge the boundaries between fine art, craft, and design. Some distinguish between sexuality in art and pornography based on the erotic artists’ objective and statement: Erotic paintings would be works designed for purposes other than just purely sexual pleasure that may be admired as art by someone disinterested in its sensual component.
