And of course, it was a pleasure seeing and reading about the familiar faces of The Remnant Chronicles. It was great to see how Lia’s reign as Queen was going and how the rest of our favorites were faring. I desperately wanted to know how my ship was doing after the events of The Beauty of Darkness since we didn’t get too much of an epilogue. But there was definitely some closure after reading this book.

This book is so fun, and full of so many of the best possible tropes.The action scenes, political conflicts and in general intense scenes were all so well written! There wasn’t one boring moment in that book and I just love how much the author has improved her writing style from her previous books to this one! It was just way more enjoyable and I couldn’t get enough! I literally flew through this book like it was nothing and I just love that feeling of not being able to stop reading and Mary E. Perhaps if you’re familiar with author Mary E. Pearson’s Remnant Chronicles, you won’t be surprised to find that her latest novel, the fantasy romance Dance of Thieves, skews much more heavily toward the romance than the fantasy. But if this is your first entry into Pearson’s world (cough cough yours truly cough), that fact might take you a bit by surprise. p.234 • "Everyone had a story they burned to tell, the true story no one else could ever get right, the injustices they endured, the unserved accolades they deserved." At the end there, I got a bit of an inkling that this may have been dystopian. I could be totally off, but isn't it a bit odd and too coincidental that the title of president would have popped up again? So my idea is that maybe the Ancient Ones were us, but way in the future, and their falling was some sort of disaster, perhaps one of their own making. I was thinking that maybe it was nuclear, but not quite nuclear as we know it. So then the scavengers could have been all crazed because of radiation poisoning. And the dust from the stars could have been some remnant of that nuclear power. I know that's all a bit far fetched, but it's interesting to think about.
