About this deal

This J-Tech Digital audio extractor-converter offers a full range for three EDID settings. These three options include a dual-channel left-right stereo out, (3.5mm) 5.1 channel Surround Sound and EDID to TV. Unfortunately, due to the limited EDID configuration, you can only switch between either one of the 5 channels, dual-channel, and passing TV EDID at a single time.

On the front, you have 3 buttons (power, HDMI selector, and ARC/auto-switch button). In the middle, there’s a standard 3.5mm headphone/speaker output. On the right end, there’s an array of indicators (power, ARC, auto-switch, 4 input indicators, output indicator) and the IR receiver. In terms of hardware connectivity options, this audio extractor-converter device accepts only one HDMI input. From this single HDMI input source, this device is able to extract and convert the audio to two different formats: optical output, (for SPDIF audio) and 3.5mm stereo output. On the front, you have L/R RCA outputs and TOSLINK output. Next to the outputs, there’s the IR receiver and a set of indicators (5 input indicators, ARC indicator, CEC indicator, auto-switch indicator, and two audio mode indicators – 2.0 and 5.1). Next to the indicators, there are 5 control buttons – Switch (input selector), ARC, Audio mode selector, CEC, and power button. The unit comes with a cheap-looking but easy-to-use remote. The remote is responsive and allows you to select the input, enable or disable ARC, CEC, and auto-switch, and choose the audio mode. Another thing to pay attention to is the EDID switch. EDID is a feature that enables the communication between the output device (display) and a source device (Blu-ray player, DVD player, cable box). EDID basically allows the source device to know the max capabilities of the output device (max resolution, frame rate, display size, HDR support). In our case, EDID allows the source device to know what kind of audio to send. The TENDAK HDMI Audio Extractor comprises one HDMI input to one HDMI output, a 3.5 mm audio output and an optical output. Therefore, you can easily extract audio from an HDMI input source to your speaker or soundbar.

Most people prefer models with more ports to those with fewer ports because they allow the user to connect more devices at the same time. Look for an HDMI audio extractor with at least one HDMI input port so that you can connect your source device, such as a PlayStation or streaming device. The number of output ports is determined by your specific requirements. 4. Output

iArkPower AHE01 is another popular choice. Like the previous extractor, it supports video output (up to 1080p/60Hz). Audio ports support stereo and 5.1 surround sound output. The extractor is fairly affordable. What’s in the box?

Comparison of the Best HDMI Audio Extractor

Avedio Links HDMI audio extractor features a single HDMI input to a single HDMI output (conversion to 2 or 5.1 channel audio output.

In conclusion, the Tendak 4K HDMI to HDMI Audio Splitter and Optical Toslink SPDIF + 3.5mm Stereo HDMI ARC Adapter Converter Support is easy to set up and use. It works brilliantly with PS3/4 and PS4 Pro. Hopefully, it’ll work perfectly with the PS5 too (yet to test the HDMI audio extractor thoroughly with PS5, initial experience was good though). However, it does not support Astro headphones. This is where an HDMI Audio Extractor comes in handy! It allows you to extract the audio signal from HDMI and send it to an external amplifier or sound system. This can be a great way to improve the sound quality of your TV or monitor, especially if you are using an older model that doesn’t have excellent speakers. We recommend you return any goods via a postal/carriage service that requires a signature upon delivery. In the case of HDMI audio extractors with audio outputs only, you can find extractors with analog stereo outs (AUX and RCA). If the audio extractors support surround-sound, you can find digital audio outputs too. Some are capable of displaying HDMI resolution of up to 4k@60Hz. The higher the resolution, the better your experience will be. CostSome of these HDMI Audio Extractors come with a lifetime warranty, so finding a device with a lengthy warranty should not be a problem. Research The control and input/output layouts are fairly clean and simple. On the front panel, you have all the buttons and indicators. There are 6 buttons (power, auto switch, 3 output buttons, and a switch button for shifting between inputs). There are also the LED indicators for each input and each output.

However, it’s also compatible with HD sources like Playstation 3&4, Laptops, PCs, HD DVR, DVD/Blu-ray players, Satellite boxes, Xbox and Apple TV, and HD Cameras. This is a world-class device that allows you to switch five different HD sources to one HDTV cable and saves you the trouble of frequently plugging or unplugging. It is capable of extending the HDTV port to 5 inputs. You can use Musou HDMI AudioExtractor with amplifiers or speakers which don’t support HDMI inputs. The device is perfect for devices such as Chromecast or Roku with no dedicated audio output. You can enjoy and share project speech and high definition movie by duplicating signals to two monitors using its mirror mode. It supports extended ModeMode, allowing you to both watch a movie and browse at the same time. HDMI ARC function is supported too. CompatibilityWhen it comes to audio output, you can choose between stereo, surround sound via SPDIF (TOSLINK port), and pass. The pass mode will send both audio and video from the HDMI input to the HDMI output (there will be no audio output through TOSLINK and RCA ports). When it comes to surround sound formats, the extractor supports LPCM, DD 5.1, and DTS 5.1 through optical port. DD+ and higher surround sound formats are supported via HDMI output. HDMI setups are capable of outputting audio in both digital and analog ways. You must select the model based on the output connectivity of your device. Certain models output analog stereo signals via RCA or 3.5 mm connections, while others output analog 5.1 or 7.1 CH surround audio. 5. Compatibility It comes with a 100-240 50/60Hz automatic switching power supply. Both inputs and outputs HDMI ports are compliant with 2.2 HDCP with CEC Bypass and supports HDMI resolution of up to 4K@50/60Hz along with HDR Pass-Through and Audio sampling of 192 kHz. The extractor can also output video but, since the HDMI ports are 1.4 (not HDMI 2.0), the max supported resolution is 1080p/60Hz. The device is HDCP 1.4 compliant (not HDCP 2.2). It supports 3D and the max bandwidth is 2.25Gbps. Things we don’t like
