About this deal

The Game mode is bright enough to give a little zing to the tints and reflections of cars in Gran Turismo 7, and the image is colourful enough, but a little more vibrancy would not go amiss. Transform movie nights with this exceptional quality TV from Korean company Samsung, one of the world's leading tech providers. This TV comes prepared with 4K resolution capabilities, providing four times the full pixels of a standard Full-HD television. Whether watching an engaging animated movie or an educational documentary, the Ultra HD colour palatte the picture is brought to vivid and vibrant life. Sleeker and Slimmer than Ever It keeps up with the pace and intricate movement of the dancers as they cross each other’s paths surprisingly well, but the penalty imposed is that sharpness and definition are further eroded. The same strengths and weaknesses pop up when watching 1917 (although artefacts are more noticeable with that film). Both movies look best without the Motion Plus setting on. Ultra slim TVs usually have their innards in a separate media box. Not so with the Samsung UE40B8000. The panel is 50Hz solely, so there is no such thing as a help. 4K/120Hz gaming. All three HDMI ports of UE43BU8000 cannot deal with SSITo go away ALLM as the one excellent gaming function provided.

The motion performance is generally good for an LCD TV, with the use of a 50Hz refresh rate making sense in the UK. Importantly, the BU8500 handles films in 24p or games in 60Hz without introducing judder or other issues. Picture Clarity offers frame interpolation options, and while good for fast-paced sports such as football, should be avoided when watching films and TV dramas. The Samsung BU8500 isn’t the greatest choice as a gaming TV, in part because the 50Hz panel precludes support for 4K/120Hz high-frame-rate gaming, along with VRR (variable refresh rate), Freesync and the Motion Xcelerator Turbo Pro technology found on other Samsung TVs.You can now buy 8K TVs from a number of brands, including Samsung, LG and Sony. It's arguably Samsung that has lead the way, and our favourite 8K TV so far is the excellent QE75QN900B. There are rival TVs, too, that can deliver both native 4K and upscaled HD images with more raw sharpness and apparent detail than the UE43AU7100. Again, though, the level of sharpness the UE43AU7100 adopts feels carefully chosen to deliver an organic, immersive image rather than an actual weakness of either the LCD panel or the Crystal Processor. These days, it's all about HDMI, which is used to connect everything from set-top boxes to video streamers, Blu-ray players to games consoles. Thanks to ARC/eARC (Audio Return Channel / Enhanced Audio Return Channel), a single HDMI connection can even be used to output sound to an AV receiver or soundbar at the same time as it receives a video signal.

But a SAMSUNG Together with the TV expertise, the TV is right here with Samsung’s confirmed Crystal Shade expertise and a sensible system that may cowl virtually any streaming service you may consider. There is ALLM – automatic delay reduction mode. Note that with Game Mode enabled, the output latency (input lag) is 11ms. As always, this is an average between 1080p and 4K resolutions, so expect very similar performance regardless of the resolution you play at. Smart TV If you're buying a TV below 32 inches and can save a lot of money on a Full HD model, by all means go for it (4K won't be a huge benefit at that sort of size anyway), but otherwise 4K is both worthwhile and, in all likelihood, your only option. Should you buy an 8K TV? Do bear in mind, though, that second-generation QD-OLED TVs are now available. The Samsung S95C, which we've now reviewed, is brighter and punchier than the A95K, but it's not as subtle in its delivery as we would like. The A95K's replacement, the A95L, is one to watch out for. It's not available yet but it looked very impressive in a recent hands-on session.

Finally, you need to really consider sound, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider a TV that doesn’t sound good. Confused? That’s understandable, but the disappointing truth is that even the best-sounding TV is far behind a decent soundbar for audio quality, so we always recommend focusing on picture quality when buying a TV and budgeting for a dedicated sound system to go with it. We do know that’s not an option for everyone, though, so we do of course test a TV’s speakers as thoroughly as its screen. If the audio quality matters a lot to you, you’ll find all of the necessary info below. There’s also a TV in this list that’s serious about Dolby Atmos sound. What size TV should you buy? The UE43BU8000 does not reap the benefits of any Quantum Dot shade expertise, however its show takes what Samsung calls Crystal Shade; It is a mixture of a comparatively broad gamut LCD panel and highly effective shade rendering, which is claimed to serve one billion totally different shade hues. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) You also need to consider LG's 2023 TVs, which are now available. The C2's replacement, the C3, is only a slight upgrade, and it's priced higher than the C2 was at launch so is much more expensive than the discounted C2 models you'll currently find in shops. The new G3 is a big step up, particularly in terms of brightness, but it's also currently very expensive. Whereas clouding is aggressive sufficient in a single or two areas of the display screen to actually distract you should you’re watching TV in any distant darkroom setup, misplaced shadow element could make darkish scenes look flatter and extra empty than shiny ones. .During setup, the adjustment to color balance is on a bit of a hair-trigger – it’ll tip from ‘just slightly understated’ to ‘rather too lively’ in no time. But play around a bit to find the optimum balance and the color palette is naturalistic, convincing and wide-ranging. Skin-tones, in particular, are detailed and varied.

For users who prefer to place the TV on a piece of furniture rather than mounting it on the wall, the UE43BU8000 features adjustable feet with separate wide and narrow attachment positions to accommodate different sizes of soundbars or narrow furniture. Speaking of soundbars, the UE43BU8000 may benefit from the addition of one due to its audio performance. The UE43BU8000 doesn’t benefit from any Quantum Dot colour technology, but its screen does get what Samsung calls Crystal Colour; a combination of a relatively wide gamut LCD panel and potent colour processing that’s claimed to serve up a billion different colour shades. It’s quite distinct through the mid-range and, again, quite decent levels of detail. Voices project forwards well, and they're actually quite nicely balanced – until they start to nudge into the upper frequency range. Once it reaches the higher frequencies, the BU8500 becomes quite hard and edgy, bringing sibilance and even a hint of coarseness to treble sounds. It’s a trait that’s only exacerbated by volume. This is an OLED TV that features LG Display’s OLED EX panel, which was introduced in 2022 and is brighter than those that went before it. To this, LG added its own algorithms and processing to produce what it refers to as an OLED Evo TV with Brightness Booster.
