About this deal

There, Ally begins to discover her roots and her inextricable connection to a young unknown singer, Anna Landvik, who lived over a hundred years ago and sang in the first performance of Grieg’s iconic music set to Ibsen’s playPeer Gynt. As Ally learns more about Anna, she also starts to question who her father really was—and why the seventh sister is missing. Anna. I liked her characterization, I liked her consistency, I liked that she was neither a wild rebel nor the I-want-romance-but-have-little-personality-beyond-that stereotype (cough-cough, Izabela). She had real flaws and made bad decisions, struggled and held on and remained true to herself. I enjoyed reading her. By the way – this whole “death of Pa Salt” needs its own post as there are SO many points to discuss here. It was totally orchestrated and planned. But WHY, and is he dead – or not? Is it possible he was not yet in 2007, but will be by the time Merope is found? Ok, I really need to plan in a post on this topic before I trail off entirely. Atlantis, June 2007 Jens and Anna fall in love, and Anna goes with him to Germany. Both leaving everything behind – including Anna’s rising fame and career.

There was one part of the resolution that let me down a tiny bit (I won't say what because it's a spoiler), but other than that, I loved it! Definitely a great series, and I highly recommend it to all readers. Elle was blonde, blue eyed and pretty. Pip compared her to a rose against Karine’s dark gypsy look. She was jewish, just like Karine, but she did not look it.Now Pa was gone, we were just a bunch of disparate women who had been thrown together as kids, but were now going our separate ways. I took some breaths and tried to do as all my therapists had told me to, which was to analyse why I'd gotten so angry. And for a change, I thought I knew the reason: Ally had told me that all my sisters were happy – they had found lives with people who loved them… Ally is not at Atlantis when Maia learns the news about Pa Salt’s death. Instead, she is enjoying some downtime with Theo, anchored with Neptune in the small bay of Macheres in Greece. Titan, (Pa Salt’s yacht) was moored off the coast of the nearby Delos. When Ally tried radioing Titan, she did not get an answer. When she came closer with Theo’s boat – the Titan sped away. So, this already calls for a few questions:Why were Pa Salt and Kreeg Eszu at the same place in Greece, and why did they both “die” at the same time? Her story takes us on a journey through the art and music scene in Norway in the early 1900’s, to Germany when the second world war is just about to break out – and onto various boats through England and Greece in the 2000’s. Greece, June 2007

According to many readers, the Tanit baby is none other than Marina, who often points out the fact that Pa is old enough to be her own father. She also sheds some minor light on her own history at some point, reminiscing “fate” and the “the kindness of strangers” -sounds like Pa has saved her from something at some point. It's also a really visual read (and I say this as someone with aphantasia!) - you really get a feel for being there and a sense of what the atmosphere is like. I may not have been able to picture it, but I still felt the anxiety of the chase, the chill in the air. Michelle Harrison shows her strength in her writing so strongly in this book. Elle, Bo, Pip and Karine eft Leipzig for Norway after Bo’s lodging was set on fire. There were jews living these. We are not sure whether Bo/ Pa Salt was also a Jew, or if he just feared for the love of his life as she was.

The book ends with a mild cliffhanger and at certain points, the book raises some mystifying questions that certainly has an enigma related to it, that which definitely made me to vouch for the next book in this series. If Pa Salt is the man we meet in CeCe and Kitty’s story in Tilbury port in January 1949, then something happened to Elle around this time. Despite the change in settings and side characters, the story felt like it was recycling plot points from previous books Tell me that Sorsha, Ivy and Elora aren't all very similar? . They all flee Germany together, and stay with Pip’s parents in Bergen, Norway. The war catches up with Pip and Karine in 1940, right after their baby Felix is born. Both Karine and Pip dies. Felix later becomes Ally and her twin brother’s father after having an affair with a student named Martha. Martha is depressed when she gives birth to Ally and Thom, choosing to give up Ally for adoption to Pa Salt (again closed as with Maia’s).
