Of course,’ I said, trying to keep my cool. I was, after all, in the presence of a global superstar. ‘Everyone does. You’re Father Christmas. Every year children write a Christmas list, with all the presents we’d like, and send it to you at the North Pole. You have a workshop, where your elves make the presents—’ Noel babanın oluş hikayesini anlatan bir kitap. Olay örgüsünün içinde öykü olarak anlatılmış, düz basit bir şekilde değil. Betimlemeler çok iyi yapılmış, büyülü ve çok hoş bir ortamı vardı.

Ben Miller makes an affable narrator for his own work, and writes a highly competent story with bookends and asides from the characters telling a story as we follow the travels of a sleigh on Christmas Eve and the story of an unusual Scrooge. Two stories for the price of one, or rather, a new version of A Christmas Carol with Father Christmas as the protagonist, and a boy who meets him being told his story.

Who comes down the chimney and eats the mince pies and drinks the brandy?’ I asked. ‘Who rides the sleigh?’Whatever makes you happy, darling,’ said my mother, sounding worried. I made up my mind that there was only one way to find out the truth. I had to meet Father Christmas, face to face. But there are other giants on the move, bigger and angrier than Crom. Realising that Merlin's and the whole country are in danger, it's a race against time for the two new friends to find the magic of their own bravery. It’s possible,’ he said. ‘It’s very possible. In fact...’ He took a long pause, and looked me right in the eye. ‘You’re right.’ Author Luke Palmer introduces his new book, Play (Firefly Press) about four boys growing up together, the challenges, the friendships, and what hap... Or, at least, he was trying to. The soot kept falling, and up in the chimney there were the muffled sounds of a struggle.I can't believe I've read this book twice in two months. I'm honestly obsessed and I can't wait until I have children so I can force them to read this book and experience the joy that I feel. This book was essentially another children's retelling of A Christmas Carol, so you basically know the story already! It's a great way to get your kids engaged with the classic (or yourself, you do you). I loved the characters, and the book is filled with amazing illustrations that really capture the essence of the story. It was fun and witty and charming throughout, to the point where I even found myself laughing at it. Within this magical story, you will find snow, reindeer, presents, and of course elves, including one mean elf called Torvil who has to learn about the true meaning of Christmas. It’s okay, I suppose,’ I said, ‘if you like presents and chocolate and sweets and things like that, but I prefer to work through a few maths problems while listening to classical music.’ And then I faked a big yawn and closed my eyes. With beautiful illustrations throughout from Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini and warm, funny words from Ben Miller, this book will remind everyone of the true spirit of Christmas and prove once and for all that Father Christmas really does exist!
