Unlike round wood, squared wood tends to be derived from large, far more mature trees. It is removed from the much larger mature tree poles and includes very little, if any, heartwood in its profile. Squared wood then undergoes a significant manufacturing process. The wood is planed and smoothed to be made ready for the cutting and drilling of each of the dimensioned parts required to make a square wood playframe. Most TP timber is pressure treated so staining is not necessary, some TP products however need to be treated before assembly and re-treated on a yearly basis. Please refer to the product details to see if the product you are buying needs to be pre-treated or not. However, if you do wish to stain a pre-treated product for aesthetic reasons, use any good water based wood stain available from a reputable DIY store.
