About this deal

Aside from the sturdy stainless steel construction, it is also popular due to the easy-to-use Meater app . Well, the verdict might seem a tad subjective but I vote for Meater Original between these two smart devices.

Rechargeable & Waterproof: The Signal Booster for this wireless meat thermometer for grilling and smoking can last up to 3 months on a full charge; Wireless meat probe features IP67-rated stainless steel that is easy to clean, allowing you to always keep your space tidy, dishwasher-safe Digital meat thermometers are the most popular type of meat thermometer. They are easy to use and usually more accurate than analog thermometers. While this was relevant historically, the USDA now states that pork can be cooked to a temperature of 145°F without risking foodborne illness. I was unable to set the probe to 145°F inside of the Pork setting, which I did not care for. These cook time estimates are all based on faulty ambient cooking chamber temperatures, rendering these estimates useless. Durability Besides setting a target temperature for the food, the ambient temperature can be set to alert for a high or low temperature. This is particularly handy for grilling, since temperatures can vary during cooking, or fuel can run out before cooking is complete. There are variables that can affect these readings such as probe placement in the meat and the location of the heat source so it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions about which probe is the most accurate. It has an IP67 waterproof rating which means the probe is protected even when it’s submerged in water for up to 30 minutes. Best of all, the probe delivers a heat reading within 3 seconds of connectivity which is amazing. No overcooked meat to ruin your mood, yay!

Probe, 2 Sensors: Bluetooth thermometer for smoker features a meat temperature probe that can simultaneously measure internal meat temperature and ambient pit temperatures, while still reading highly accurately in just 3 seconds, so you’ll never overcook or undercook again! With the Original Meater wire-free thermometer, life becomes much easier. You can monitor your cook through a smartphone and get an alert when it’s done. Other usability features include the ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, customizable alarms, and disconnection notices. You can also set a pre-alarm before the actual alarm to alert you that your food is getting close to being done. Make perfectly cooked meat consistently with ThermoPro TP19W. This well-built thermometer will give you an accurate temperature in the matter of 2-3 seconds every single time. A must have tool for experienced and inexperienced cooks alike. You can set customized alarms to be notified how long to cook by using the app. This eliminates the tiring guesswork in a long BBQ session whether it’s indoors or outdoors. Certainly, these disparities will lead the users to have different experiences while using the probes. Umm, that totally depends on what you are looking for from a wireless thermometer. If you prefer a longer wireless range, nothing can beat this model. It is when you are cooking something smaller like a pork chop for a shorter period of time that you will definitely see a significant temperature difference even over a span of 0.5 inches. The Ambient Temperature Sensor of the TempSpike Effectively Manage Your Time: Wireless grill thermometer App takes the guesswork out by estimating how long to cook; Set up ambient pit temperature alarms and cooking pre-alarms that trigger within 5°F/10°F/15°F of the target temperature!

Moving forward to the Meater Original review , it costs less than TempSpike with some common features though. But to get a longer wireless range with more accurate temperature readings, you should count on ThermoPro TempSpike. The probe is easy to use. It requires placement deep enough into the food so that the probe temp doesn’t rise above 212°F (100°C). The food temp is measured at the tip of the probe, and the other end measures the ambient temperature. I tested the accuracy of the two probes in heated water, using a Reference Thermapen to determine the water temp. Both the probe’s sensors accurately read out the hot water temp (the first number is the tip; the second is the ambient temp): What blew me away about this versatile grilling tool is the waterproof stainless steel construction. Not only is it easy to clean but also easy to maintain. Both Meater and ThermoPro designed their meat probes to make your grilling experience easier. No wonder the Meater Original and TempSpike share a lot of common features to monitor your cooks perfectly. With Meater, cooking becomes an art form, and the digital meat thermometer is your brush, painting flavors to perfection.” Team Topcellent I want this completely wire-free technology to work, but I think it’s halfway there with just one of the two temperature sensors that are trustworthy. The TempSpike has two thermometers integrated into its design. There is the tip of the probe (the side inserted into meat) that will measure the internal temperature of your food. There is also a thermometer on the end of the probe that will measure ambient temperature during your cook. The only downside is its 33 ft limited range. Then again you cannot expect more from such an affordable meat probe.

Being the first ever truly wireless meat probe, Meater Original is an affordable option even for beginners. However, it’s a Bluetooth meat thermometer with no WiFi compatibility. The booster connects to your phone through a dedicated app. Then the meat probe connects to the booster via Bluetooth. They clearly differ in the range while offering wireless cooking control. Meater Original only covers 33 ft long distance in wireless cooking. However, the ThermoPro TempSpike is designed with a 500 ft ultra-long range.

You can set a number of custom alerts for both tools to get notifications about the cooking temperature, estimated cooking time, etc. The silver lining is that none of the wireless temperature probes were accurate in terms of ambient temperature accuracy. This is a curious omission and definitely places the TempSpike’s mobile app at a disadvantage to its competitors, who all feature better temperature graphing. I have tested a number of these wireless probes, and the ThermoPro TempSpike is only the second product that produced accurate results. They advertise that the probe can be used as a sous vide tool as well since the probe is completely waterproof.
