About this deal

I’m an author of Young Adult Fantasy fiction. When my oldest was six, I started reading Harry Potter to him. It was such a bonding experience that we both cherish. We still talk about the stories, even though he's all grown up and lives away from me most of the time. The thing about fantasy is that stories set in worlds or with people that don’t actually exist make it easier for us to swallow deep meanings, storylines with which we can identify, and that crawl deep down into our souls and nest there. It’s not just about escaping into a fantasy world, but about finding human experience in otherworldly situations and characters. The film based on the book and with advice from Lord, was released in 1958. Lord also served as a consultant to Canadian film director James Cameron while he was making his film Titanic in 1997. What it’s about: The sinking of the Titanic was only the start of the nightmare – now those who haven’t frozen to death must fight for their lives as Lovecraftian nightmares begin to bleed into our reality.

What sets this book about the Titanic apart? Titanic: A Survivor’s Story is the only Titanic book to contain the information Gracie left behind. Written shortly before his death from the exposure he suffered on the evening of the sinking, Gracie gives a vivid account of the situation as he and the last of the passengers to leave the sinking ship (including fellow survivor John Thayer, whose account is detailed meticulously by Gracie in this book), going so far even to be able to describe who went into which lifeboat. The philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet lived in what is now Iran, between 1048 and 1131. His achievements included creating the most precise solar calendar of the time but long after his death he would become more famous for his poetry, written in four-line verses known as quatrains There's no better time to explore the iconic Titanic Belfast building and surrounding Maritime Mile. Who will enjoy this book: This is a fantastic introduction to the Titanic for kids, but it’s really a book the whole family can get something out of. This beautifully illustrated book is the story of a boy, his bear, and their escape from the sinking of the Titanic. This telling of the collision is an easy way for young readers to understand these historical events. Who will enjoy this book: Anyone interested in Titanic stories about the survivors, and how they coped with the aftermath.

Why it’s one of the best Titanic books for kids: I, as I’m sure many kids of my generation did, read several of the Dear America series when I was younger. Since I was obsessed with the Titanic, this was of course a standout for me. Of course, when I was a kid there wasn’t the plethora of kids books about the Titanic that there is today, but I still think there is a great book for younger audiences to read about the events from a first person POV and connect to the characters. Read detailed information about the supposedly “unsinkable” ship with images that support all the facts. Kids will enjoy being able to get a “real” glimpse into the story of the Titanic and what’s become of it. What’s it about: A young woman hoping to escape the wealthy family she serves after the Titanic arrives in America is captivated by a handsome first-class passenger with a dark and gruesome past – and he’s being stalked by werewolves! Titanic Survivor: The Newly Discovered Memoirs of Violet Jessop Who Survived Both the Titanic and Britannic Disasters – Violet Jessop What sets this book about the Titanic apart? Dotterer’s characters feel real and lived in, and we can easily sympathise with their struggle as they try to do the right thing. The Other Side of the Night: The Carpathia, the Californian and the Night the Titanic Was Lost – Daniel Allen ButlerWhat sets this book about the Titanic apart? Butler spent years researching the actions of the Captains of the Carpathia and the Californian, recounting in his book just how many people could have been saved had they acted differently, and diving deeply into the investigations launched against those deemed by many to have acted callously and negligently. Our BookSleuth is specially designed for you. Visit BookSleuth It’s April 15, 2020. On this day 108 years ago, Titanic sank at 2:20AM and took 1,496 lives with her. Many people were on the ship to start a new life in America or just returning home. The world was changed upon learning about this maritime disaster. In the memory of those who have died, here are eleven books from historians, as well as Titanic survivors, that are really interesting recounts of the disaster. When she meets Alec, a handsome upper class passenger, Tess falls helplessly in love. But Alec has secrets of his own... and soon Tess is…A heart-stopping adventure that defies time and space--New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu calls it "an incredibly intricate, brilliantly paced, masterfully written journey." My passion for historical adventure and Texas history stems from my heritage: I’m a native Texan related to one of the Alamo defenders. My great-great-great-great-great-granduncle, Isaac Millsaps, was one of the Immortal 32, the reinforcements from Gonzales who answered William Barret Travis's call for help, rode to San Antonio, and died in the Alamo on March 6, 1836. My relationship with words began in elementary school, where I read Beowulf and Dracula by the time I was 10 years old (probably explains a lot about me). I began writing for newspapers in 1975 and have been writing professionally ever since. The book’s structure is that of a sequential archive illustrated by more than a thousand contemporary photographs, including Harland & Wolff’s original architectural plans and engineering drawings. It moves from the launch in Belfast to life…
