Overall we’re really impressed with The Dark Knight Trilogy 4K UHD Blu-Ray Box Set and that shows in our overall score of 8. You can either watch the Focus Points featurettes in the context of the film, separately, or with a “play all” option. The secondary hues benefit greatly as well, displaying more variation and richness between the various shades. The battle for the soul of Gotham takes place on Ultra HD with a stunning, jaw-dropping 4K HDR presentation that easily bests and surpasses its HD SDR counterpart, offering fans several demo-worthy moments. Lastly, we demoed Cobb/Ariadne's Paris training sequences from Inception-- the café slow-motion explosions, the mirror sequence, and folding Paris over itself -- which might be my personal favorite Nolan movie.

The light moments are far more a well-placed clever comment from Alfred or Lucius than something gratuitously placed for a laugh. Christopher Nolan is a British-American filmmaker known for making personal, distinctive films within the Hollywood mainstream. Dialogue is mostly intelligible, though there were some moments—particularly in the third film with Bane (Hardy) speaking behind a mask—where the combination of music, mayhem, and on-set recorded dialogue made some lines a bit tricky to hear, but certainly nothing like the sonic mess of Nolan’s Interstellar or Tenet. Another IMAX-heavy scene, this one oozed detail, not only in terms of actor's faces and costume textures, but also in all the fine, specular highlight details. And it never lets up either, with the action sequences not only rich with precision effects and engaging atmospherics, but also some heavyweight elements of their own - the sure highlight being the Tumbler, which is so damn loud it'll leaving you reaching for the volume control and then thinking again and just getting absorbed in the sheer grin-inducing joy of the low-end rumble of the engine. Still, even in a room with a lot of ambient lighting, the results were striking, especially for IMAX footage. It's not bad, by any means -- in fact, it gives me hope of how terrific Lawrence of Arabia or The Hateful Eight could look in 4K -- but this footage is just not as jaw-dropping when intercut with a higher resolution source material.

I also pixel-peeped the Matthew McConaughey vs Matt Damon ice planet fight sequence from Interstellar. Read through the product description for The Dark Knight Trilogy 4K UHD Blu-Ray Box Set to get an understanding of the materials the product is made from. It went without saying that the production elements, cast selection, direction and action/choreography were all top notch in keeping with the bar set by the earlier films. As it would be almost too easy to hand the focal point of the film over to the Joker’s arch antics, it’s up to Nolan to rein that impulse in and use the Joker as sparingly as possible. Batman Begins SPECIAL FEATURES: The Dark Knight IMAX Prologue • Tankman Begins: A Batman Begins spoof. But, for what it’s worth Nolan’s movies provide some of the most powerful audio experiences for your home theater and The Dark Knight is one of them. I don't like to double-dip but I like the first two movies in the series a lot so I think that your review has given me the excuse that I need! Second, Batman has always been the hero most grounded in reality, and Nolan really makes that feel real here. I actually like the aspect ratio switching, but there were times I almost wished the whole film was shot with the IMAX camera. dba Freestar (“Freestar”) for the purposes of placing certain advertising on the site, and Freestar will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes.

I also found the final showdown between Bane and Batman to be anticlimactic, and disappointing, which wasn’t helped by the rather conventional plot twist that I saw coming.

This wiki is about the Dark Knight movie trilogy that was created by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale as Batman. Of all of the Nolan films arriving on 4K, this is easily the worst looking, but it still looks pretty good. Christian Bale stars, along with Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman. Bane's plane-heist is one of the most thrilling action sequences ever put to film and, much like Dunkirk, the full frame IMAX-filmed footage drips with detail and texture.

When the hospital blows up it looks so good that it almost feels fake because it’s so realistic looking, if that makes sense. Probably the sharpest, clearest 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray ever released (or very close to Planet Earth II, which has the added benefit of being far more colorful). Warner Home Video brings The Dark Knight to Ultra HD Blu-ray as a three-disc combo pack with an UltraViolet Digital Copy code, which can be redeemed at WB. I absolutely loved Christopher Nolan’s portrait of Batman and thought that Christian Bale nailed it. The Ultra HD Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight - coming as part of the Dark Knight Trilogy set, itself released at the same time as a selection of some seven Nolan titles on the format - affords the seminal, definitive Batman movie excellent video and stunning audio and a strong selection of extras and comes highly recommended.

Shot on both 35mm and IMAX 65mm, this was the first film in Nolan's oeuvre where he started playing with shifting aspect ratios and IMAX, and - but for Inception - he's never looked back. It’s also fair to suggest that, along with Richard Donner’s original Superman, the film still ranks highly among the finest examples of its genre to date. With his Dark Knight trilogy, Nolan accomplished one of the toughest feats in Hollywood—making a sequel that is better than the original.
