About this deal

Some of Saucony's neutral running shoes have become incredibly successful staples in the running word. Powergrid+ differs from Powergrid in the way that instead of being a separate layer on top of the midsole, now the midsole itself incorporates the holes that create the grid system. Saucony has placed a wedge on the inside of the Guide 16, which ensures you get support on the inside of the foot. Not only does the Omni 20 have strong nostalgic value, but it is also a safe refuge for runners who crave the sensation of a firm medial post under the arch.

It may have an old-school medial post – aka a ‘pronation control’ thingy – but the midsole design is new, and so is the upper that’s based on the contemporary Saucony design language. Megan began running competitively as a freshman in high school (2006) and it has been a major component of her life since then. The Hurricane 23 offers just enough flexibility to deliver a pleasantly smooth ride while still being firm enough to maintain high-quality stability. Saucony has also been transitioning to less aggressive stability tools, ensuring the shoe is not over correcting or doing the work for you. The Tempus is the obvious choice for a tempo shoe if you're a runner who needs a little extra stability. The upper reminds us of the Peregrine – it’s lightweight, yet secure and reinforced with protective layers. While she treats various orthopedic injuries, she primarily specializes in treating injured runners. Compared to Saucony’s other stability offerings, the Hurricane is currently the most cushioned as well as the most supportive.

The Hurricane 23 is a workhorse daily trainer that offers top-of-the-line cushioning and stability for runners who overpronate. The outsole is divided into hard-wearing landing zones and soft blown rubber sections to deliver grip and stability. Ryan Flugaur is a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Point Forward Physical Therapy in Stevens Point, WI. The heel feels snug without slippage thanks to the internal heel counter and the well padded tongue which holds the ankle into place.

Matt: I was disappointed in the stability design of the Hurricane 22 as I found the sole too soft and the stability too minimal for a premium stability shoe. It’s an ultra-soft inner sleeve made of stretchable air mesh, that morphs to the foot for a sock-like feel with a floating support cage around it that cradles the foot. Even though there is great flexibility within these shoes, it is important to reiterate that this in no way comes at the cost of support. The Saucony Triumph 21 is made with Saucony's SpeedRoll technology, which "rolls" your foot through each step. For racing flats we ensure that we have completed intervals, a tempo or steady state run run as well as a warm up and cool down in each pair prior to review. The Hurricane 23 has fixed this as not only does the PWRRUN+ in this version feel slightly firmer and more stable than previous (while still feeling soft and bouncy overall), the post feels more significant.

Not all companies put as much thought as Saucony does in connecting the upper to the midsole, but they should. I smirked after seeing that hefty guidance frame for the first time, but I know the Hurricane is getting the last laugh. Built on a legacy of performance, Saucony continues to offer best-in-class running shoes, running apparel, and timeless retro footwear that has helped shape who we are today. Saucony has stuck to their popular FORMFIT 360 technology, which means that the shoe sits really well on your foot.As a mostly neutral runner I was a bit nervous to try a stability shoe, however, after putting nearly 50 miles on the shoe, I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The upper is constructed of an engineered mesh that provides a comfortable lockdown of the foot and never feels too tight even during my longer runs where the foot is known to swell a bit. The Omni 20 continues to carry over the tradition of being a robust stability shoe in the Saucony lineup. The new Endorphin pro with the carbon fiber plate is more like a racing shoe and therefore only expected to last around 200 miles.
