About this deal

But in writing interval books, there have obviously been subtle references or characters added, that aren’t in the previously published books.

Sharpe’s Command | Bernard Cornwell

He finally settles down with Lucille Castineau, a Frenchwoman who passes away some time after Napoleon's final defeat. Either escape with the aid of the charming, unscrupulous American mercenary, Cornelius Killick, or die. When production started again a month later, Sean Bean was given the role because he was the only suitable replacement available at short notice. In this book Sharpe carries his sword, a 1796 pattern Heavy Calvary sword, to the battle outside Salamanca. It is 1814, and the defeat of Napoleon seems imminent — if the well protected city of Toulouse can be conquered. Julian Fellowes played Major Warren Dunnett in Sharpe's Rifles and also the Prince Regent in Sharpe's Regiment. There he must contend with not only the butchery, but the Marquesa de Casares el Grande y Melida Sadaba, a British spymaster, and some unbroken French squares. Despite their backing, he has to fight against the strong prejudice of aristocrats (who often owe their army positions to money and social connections rather than to military skill) against an uncouth commoner raised from the ranks. Almost every episode is a direction adaptation, albeit with obvious differences, of a Cornwell novel.
