My cat is a constant hunter and during the night he will jump out the top window onto our extension roof and he has been known to jump back in with a dead rat in his mouth. I have aviary panels (some were bought second hand, some new) made into an enclosure around the patio doors and windows, and over the top.

not only is my home insect free and cool at night time, my cat is also safe and sound indoors and now ignores the nets after failing her great escape 4 or 5 times by climbing the nets in the hope to pull them from there fixings. All we need now is a cat but in the meantime the mozzies cannot get in so we can open the windows at night and stay cooooool. She was worried that we’d get out of the window and door and possibly get run over by a bus or car, or even worse that someone may take us because we are so pretty and handsome. I have had no trouble fixing them up to the windows, much easier than I dared hope, and they are working well - particularly in the bathrooms and bedrooms. Because the screen is not rigid like a traditional hinged screen door, a cat cannot easily climb it and quickly gives up trying.Really appreciate you spending the time to talk me through it all on the phone and for recommending the narrower fixings, they work perfectly with my window frames. He can now sit on the window and I don't have to worry about him climbing out from the top windows ! We've had to keep the windows closed for fear he might fall out (he's not the most dainty or co-ordinated boy!
