Description

Boh. There were parts of the story that were a bit predictable but I found there were still some surprises along the way. I received an arc of this novel from the author and I’m leaving an honest review. Thank you to A.K Mulford for this opportunity! Although I look forward to more insight into other characters in the next book, and the continuation of seeing familiar ones, I do have 2 bits of contention. Ma poi Remy viene uccisa in continuazione e puff, torna in vita come nuova. Ogni volta. Perché… perché continuo a farmi domande?

Of course the Priness is GORGEOUS and Bri is drawn not only to her cruvy beauty, but the strength she holds within herself and Love for her people.

Our Review

This books is Bri and Lina's journey of defining their individual fates and how their two hearts collide.

She gets a less than warm welcome from the county as her mother was banished from the west with her twin babes after a prophecy was foretold that Bri would snatch the crown from the sovereign. the room filled with the sound of her wet, sniffing breaths. a weighted silence. and they’d never know truly what it meant to her, to sit there and listen to her cry. sitting there in that stillness spoke straight into the deepest parts of her soul: we’re here. we see you. we won’t let you fall.” Just like the previous books in the Five Crowns of Okrith series, I absolutely adored this fun high fantasy romance novel. It’s pretty fast paced but has a couple of slower moments in the earlier parts, but overall it’s an amazing diverse fantasy novel with fae and witches. I loved seeing another part of Okrith and thought that the environment and culture of the Western Court was very interesting and kept me invested in the court. The blue witches having to overcome every awful thing they have been through, only to have to fight themselves, heartbreaking. Everyone had such amazing personal growth in this book that I am honestly speechless.

Content Warnings: death of a parent, mentions of mental/emotional abuse from a parent, murder, blood, consensual sex, cheating (not between fmc and li) Remy is a strong female lead even though she struggles coming to terms and accepting that strength, constantly criticising herself for being a coward. Speaking of diversity, we also have a character, Bria's sister, who is half-fae/half-human, and I thought that was interesting... But she as well got a mention in a chapter, and then vanished from the rest of the story. It felt like another wasted opportunity.

Although not perfect, it was still very much enjoyable to read! I’ve always recommended this series, especially to anyone who loves fae romances. A.K Mulford understands the world of fantasy and delivers impressive romances. The great thing about this series is that each book follows a different couple so you really get to enjoy a new romance every book and see cameos from previous characters as well.

The only minus point was the book being too fast paced. It felt kind of rushed and I would have liked it more if greater attention and time was given to the crucial moments!!

Customer reviews

The High Mountain Court thrusts us into a fantastical world of witches, magic, Fae, and warring Courts.
