Based largely on this album, Bush was voted "Best female artist of 1980" in polls taken in Melody Maker, Sounds, the Sunday Telegraph, and Capital Radio. The artwork exudes a dreamy and otherworldly quality, aligning seamlessly with the album’s thematic explorations and diverse musical journeys. The album became Bush's first record to reach the top position on the UK Albums Chart, also making her the first female British solo artist to achieve that status.

These black and white thoughts, these bats and doves, freeze-framed in flight, swoop into the album and out of your hi-fis. The packaging is lovely, it's now a gatefold digipak, and having the whole album artwork in your hands is much nicer than the much smaller image and black spine of the jewel case, and this adds to the vinyl-like experience. It was also the first ever album by a British female solo artist to top the UK album chart, as well as being the first album by any female solo artist to enter the chart at no. Two years after her first two releases, Kate Bush took her career into her own hands and produced Never For Ever.

As Bush explained herself, the image represents “an intricate journey of our emotions: inside gets outside, as we flood people and things with our desires and problems. The dark and gothic "Never For Ever" contains tales of deception, death, longing, and a love of Egypt and violins. Breathing," about the repercussions of nuclear war, conveys enough passion and vocal curvatures to make her concern sound convincing, while "Army Dreamers" bounces her voice up and down without getting out of hand.

More recently, AllMusic gave the album a favourable review, complimenting the three singles most highly but said that Bush would improve on the formula on later albums. I love this remaster so much that it makes me sad that I’ve never listen to a vintage copy of this album. On side-A of the original vinyl release label, however, she is depicted as a graceful white swan, abstract concepts that were also featured in the music videos for ‘Delius’ and ‘Babooshka’. This remaster is surprisingly warm sounding for a cd, and gives a little extra punch/oomph where needed, without spoiling the original sound balance. It features the UK Top 20 singles " Breathing", " Army Dreamers" and " Babooshka", the latter being one of Bush's biggest hits.

Bush created a marriage of groundbreaking, up-to-the-minute technology with little-used acoustic instruments. The woman featured in his work, ‘Undine in the Wind’, bears a striking resemblance to the figure of Bush depicted on the cover of Never For Ever, right down to the detail of both figures standing on their toes. Babooshka-a song that got me interested in this singer, the style is unique while also extremely thought provoking with it's unusual lyrics even with todays music it is strong and as exceptional as when i first heard it, a classic in many different ways as it shows kate's interest in literature and human nature taken to new heights. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I always find that listening to vinyl makes me just sit and listen - much needed in this crazy world. The 80 Greatest Albums of 1980 What came out of all this was, arguably, the greatest year for great albums ever". That Kate Bush rolling around like a squealing 'ninny' like this (Granny imitating her movements from within the sphere) in a great big ball'! She bettered this formula for 1985's Hounds of Love, making that album's "Running Up That Hill" her only Top 40 single in the U.
