Description

Previously we have seen grinders that were either very cheap and relatively useless, or more expensive and capable. Superkop Lever Espresso Machine One of the most unique espresso makers currently on the market, this is our First Look at the Superkop ratchet lever espresso machine. Compared to blade grinders, burr grinders are quite simple to adjust to modify the grind size to be compatible with more brewing methods. I think the thing that impresses me most with the early use of this product is the “action” of the crank arm. Without coffee inside, it is glass-smooth with almost no friction at all. I hold the body of the grinder in one hand, give it a slight wiggle, and the crank arm can spin around at 150+ RPM if I wanted to. Along with that, the dual bearing axle system keeps the burrs very steady in their housing with very little wobble, if any.

In saying this, the crucial components, like the burrs and hand crank, are made of stainless steel. The hand grinder has been carefully designed to ensure the burrs are stable and produce a consistent grind size. The handle spins smoothly, being mounted on dual bearings. Additionally, the inner burr is spring-loaded to ensure repeatability of grind sizes. Interestingly, the inner burr comes spring-loaded. This means tension (from the spring) is used to set the grind and keep it more consistent again and again. I like the size of the grinder, and think it will appeal to people with smaller hands as well. I love how fast it is. It’s frustrating to grind coffee in a caffeine-deprived state, so this is a significant plus. However, if you want something suitable for espresso or you’re the kind of person who only wants the best of the best, there are still a few other grinders out there that are better.

Initial Use of the Timemore Chestnut C2

To assess your claim, you will be required to provide photo and/or video evidence of the damaged product.

EASY TO GRIP & GRIND - The unique anti-slip textured makes this manual burr coffee grinder easier to hold; it is also smooth to handle and grind thanks to the smooth bearings and slim-52mm-diameter body. You’re looking for a long-term solution – If you are a frequent traveller, the aluminium build of the Timemore C2 will not offer as much protection as another coffee grinder made of stainless steel. Comparing the Timemore C2 vs 1Zpresso JX, for instance, shows just how much more the latter is suitable for the task as a more premium coffee grinder option. The portability is greatly increased due to the amount of plastic used to cut down on this coffee grinder’s weight, making it the perfect lightweight hand grinder for travel. Not only is there plastic inside, but it also has a plastic lid cover and a plastic grind adjustment knob. This lightweight coffee grinder measures 14.7 cm high, 5.2 cm in diameter, with a 15.9 cm handle, and weighs 430 g. It can hold 30 g of coffee beans, suitable for 3 cups, but it is recommended only to put in up to 25 g. There are also no wires, cords, or batteries to worry about here. Price – 4.5/5 Build-quality: More plastic than other hand grinders. The aluminum feels a bit cheaper than the 1Zpresso models. It’s not something you see except when attaching the grounds jar. The sound it makes sounds slightly cheap and creaky.

As for grind settings, the adjustment knob is easy to turn, too. And when you’re done, this hand grinder is easy to clean and small enough to store anywhere. It has an anatomically shaped handle that spins smoothly due to being mounted on ball bearings, and on the inside, there’s a set of 38 mm steel burrs. By now, we have seen this design often, and it works perfectly fine for these pour over-centric home grinders. But at the end of the day, it takes time to grind coffee beans — even for a speedy grinder like the C2.

Here's what our customers have been saying about us...

The Q-model from 1Zpresso has the benefit that it fits inside an Aeropress, which makes it suitable for travel. However, as a daily workhorse, I’d probably take the C2 due to the bigger capacity and increase in speed.

Some manual grinders expect you to turn into the Incredible Hulk just to crank out a cupful of grounds. Not the Timemore Chestnut C2. If, like me, you’re wary of adding more plastic than necessary into your kitchen, know that the C2 is at least made of PCTG plastic, which is BPA-free, food-safe, and extra-durable. PCTG plastic is much longer-lasting than many plastic parts. The Timemore Chestnut C2 is also easy to clean — once you get the hang of popping the adjustment dial and burr set in place with the spring. The excellent build quality of the C3 further contributes to its portability. It’s not just about size and weight; a grinder also needs to be durable to stand up to the bumps and bruises of travel. The aluminium shell of the C3 is very sturdy, and its etched texture makes it immune to scratches. Price 4/5

Conclusion, For Now

I have no qualms declaring that, together with 1Zpresso Jx, this is one of the fastest hand grinders on the market. Despite its more modest appearance, it’s a lot faster than Lido 3 and the Comandante. Consistent enough
