Before receiving the McGuigan Black Label Red as a gift we wouldn’t have bought a ‘red’ assuming it to be a cheap sweet blend of lower quality grapes. I bought a little bottle of this wine to try and I was quite surprised it was smooth and slightly sweet , I hate dry wine .Crafted mainly from the Shiraz grape and some other grapes to give balance and freshness, it has the typical ripeness of the region - velvety, soft and voluptuous, with masses of dark fruits, black cherry, plum and blackcurrant. It's a great wine I was told about it after climbing a mountain and have sought it out ever since then. We tried this wine in a restaurant many years ago and wanting to purchase some for our home use we found York wines. With over 100 years of winemaking experience to draw on, McGuigan Wines was founded to celebrate ‘The Love of Wine’. Not deterred by some of the negative reviews on here, I gave this a try as McGuigan wines are usually reliable. Every bottle of McGuigan Black Label is packed full of flavour and is your comforting reward for switching off. This is a balanced wine with the caramel and vanilla aged characters and subtle oak flavours integrated with lifted sweet cherry and plum fruit flavours.
